Brushing my vocab regarding hats:
ALPINE - soft felt hat with brim, sometimes peaked crown, and feather, tassel, or brush trim, such as worn by inhabitants of Alps
BERET - Hat adapted from the Basque beret, having round, flat crown of varying width, made of felt or other materials.
BOATER - straw hat with straight brim and a ribbon band.
BOWLER - hat similar to derby shape, often having slightly wider brim with accentuated roll at sides.
BRETON - Hat with brim rolling upward evenly all around.
CARTWHEEL - Hat with very large, often straight brim or even width; usually having shallow crown
CLOCHE - Hat with bell-shaped crown. Often with an even brim turned down; also with short brim bact and front, slightly wider at the sides.
COOLIE - hat, generally made in one piece, sloping downward on straight slant, usually from peaked crown
COSSACK - adaptation of cap worn by Cossacks; usually tall, brimless hat of fur, astrakhan, wooly-surfaced fabric, somewhat wider at the top than at headband
EUGENIE - small hat having brim turned up to the left; sometimes on both sides; trimmed with ostrich plumes; worn tilted toward right
FEDORA - low hat, usually of soft felt; brim originally rolled high at sides
GAINSBOROUGH - hat with large, graceful brim, usually turned up on one side, trimmed with plumes.
GAUCHO - hat with high, tapered crown and tilted, wide brim, like those worn by Spanish-American herdsmen
HALO - Hat worn off the forehead, well back on head, acting as circular frame for the face.
